چکیده

This work details research on the formation mechanism of wheel polygonalization in high-speed trains and its effect factors by numerical modeling order to prevent increasingly prevalent problem polygonal wear. The lateral self-excited vibration model a was developed using LuGre friction theory. properties crucial condition Hopf bifurcation were investigated; process wear simulated results validated field tracking data. demonstrated that periodic generated is required for attrition at given speed. wheel’s has following characteristics: “Constant speed—Self-excited—Fixed frequency—Divisible.” polygon determined ratio frequency rotational frequency. Wheel caused vertical dynamic force rail. findings study can serve as theoretical foundation prediction reduction

Study on Friction and Wear Properties of Pantograph Strip/Copper Contact Wire for High-Speed Train

A series of experiments on friction and wear properties of carbon strip rubbing against copper contact wire is performed on high-speed friction and wear tester with electric current. The results show that the friction coefficient is generally maintained between 0.24 and 0.37. In the absence of electric current, the coefficient of friction is higher than that in the presence of electric current....

Self-lubricating, low-friction, wear-resistant Al-based quasicrystalline coatings

After gas atomization, a quasicrystalline powder based on aluminium was used to prepare a thick coating by high-velocity oxygen-fuel flame torch spraying. This layer was deposited on top of a bond-coat layer on a steel plate. A post-spraying annealing treatment turned the two layers to their stable state, a γ-brass crystal and an icosahedral quasicrystal, respectively. The projection parameters...

CFD Simulation of High-speed Trains: Train-induced Wind Conditions on Trackside Installations

Speed is the created air flow as well as slipstream effects as the trains move. These effects can have some level of impact on fuel and energy efficiency  of  the  train,  but  their  other  important  outcome  is  the emergence of turbulent flows at higher speeds which can cause aerodynamic  drag  forces  followed  by  noise  and  vibration.  Thus, slipstream effects have significant importanc...

Friction Force for Self-Excited Systems

Control and reduction of friction is one of the last frontier in the field of tribology. This paper presents a model for low friction made up of a self-excited oscillator sliding along a periodic potential. Many examples of such self-excited oscillators in electrical, mechanical and biological systems can be found in literature. As one of its most prominent features, stable limit cycles in phas...

A Study of the Wear Behavior of a Rail Material

The rail track is one of the most important elements of a railway system. During the passage of trains, the rails are subjected to contact load that comes from the wheels of the train.  The railway track often fails in service due to wear caused by contact fatigue and other wear damage mechanisms that could also limit the life span of the railway infrastructure and railway vehicle. The aim of t...
